“What is a Stay at Home Bride?”
I became a stay-at-home mom before I was even a mom…and while planning my wedding.
My friends jokingly dubbed me a “stay at home bride.” But that’s exactly what I was: engaged, pregnant, and jobless — waiting and planning for two huge, life-changing events at once, yet feeling more aimless than ever.
We had our first child, and I struggled to adjust to life as a young mom…while planning a wedding remotely, hours away in our hometown.
My most frequently-typed questions went unanswered online, so I figured a lot out as I went. Things like, Is it bad we’re having a kid before marriage? (Psst: it’s not.) Or, How can I respond to people saying we’re too young to get married?
I’m well over a decade older now. Hopefully wiser, too. At the very least, I figured out the answers to those questions I couldn’t get back then—but that I know many brides still struggle with.
So now, to help guide other moms- and brides-to-be (or both!) navigate wedding planning drama, hiccups, and bucking traditions, I run the Stay at Home Bride with my other writer friend. Together, we answer all those questions we wondered during our own bride-to-be challenges.
Practical brides deserve practical wedding advice—from women who’ve been there themselves.
